Page Impresses in Welterweight Debut
Miami, FL - Former Bellator MMA standout Michael Venom Page made a successful debut in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on Saturday night, defeating Kevin Holland in a welterweight bout at UFC 299.
Despite coming into the fight as a significant underdog, Page showcased his signature high-flying kickboxing style and controlled the fight from start to finish. Page's kicks and punches kept Holland at bay, while his grappling skills frustrated the veteran UFC fighter. In the end, Page earned a unanimous decision (30-27, 30-26, 29-27).
Page, who previously held the Bellator welterweight title in the UK, expressed his excitement about making a successful UFC debut. "I'm so happy to be here in the UFC and fighting with the best in the world. I put in a lot of hard work for this moment, and I'm just glad I could come out here and show everyone what I can do," said Page.
Holland, who has been a fan favorite since joining the UFC in 2018, admitted that Page was the better man on Saturday night. "He was just too much for me tonight. He's a great fighter, and I wish him all the best in his future fights," said Holland.
Page's victory is a significant boost for the UFC's welterweight division, which has long been dominated by the likes of Kamaru Usman, Colby Covington, and Leon Edwards. Page's unique fighting style and charisma could make him a popular contender for the UFC's 170-pound title.
