Heavy Rain, Tornado Warnings in Effect
Meteorologists Issue Urgent Warning
Residents in several counties in Pennsylvania are being urged to take shelter immediately as a tornado watch has been issued until 9 pm Saturday evening. The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Indiana County during Tuesday's severe storms.
An updated tornado warning was issued at 3:13 am on Wednesday and is in effect until 3:45 am. The NWS warns that a tornado could potentially strike the midstate on Wednesday afternoon or evening.
In addition to the tornado threat, heavy rainfall is expected with new amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible, except for higher amounts in some areas. The NWS advises residents to be aware of the weather conditions and to stay safe.
