Far-Right German MEP Maximilian Krah Questioned by FBI

28-January-1977, Räckelwitz, Germany — Maximilian Eugen Krah

FBI's Questioning of German Lawmaker

On April 17th, 2024, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) questioned far-right German lawmaker Maximilian Krah. The questioning stemmed from concerns about Krah's alleged ties to extremist groups. Krah is a member of the European Parliament for the Alternative for Germany (AfD), a far-right political party. He has been accused of making racist and anti-Semitic statements. In 2018, he was banned from entering the United Kingdom for five years due to his extremist views. The FBI's questioning of Krah is part of a broader investigation into the activities of far-right groups in Germany. The investigation is being conducted in cooperation with German law enforcement authorities.

Krah has denied any wrongdoing and has said that he is the victim of a political witch hunt. He has also accused the FBI of overstepping its authority by questioning him without a warrant.

The FBI has declined to comment on the specifics of its investigation. However, a spokesperson for the agency said that it is committed to investigating all credible threats to the United States, regardless of where they originate.

The questioning of Krah is a significant development in the investigation into far-right extremism in Germany. It is a sign that the FBI is taking the threat posed by these groups seriously.
